Cool ‘Waze’ to use social media & user generated content

March 8, 2010 No comments yet

Just came across this neat (and free)  social mobile app which “enables drivers to build and use live maps, real-time traffic updates and turn-by-turn navigation for an optimal commute. 100% powered by users…”

Not many UK users on Waze yet at the moment, but all in good time I guess. I’d be downloading it now if a) I drove much and b) I’d got my Android already. Check out the guided tour

waze - watch the guided tour

I’d also be looking closely at this if I ran a vehicle rescue company, the traffic dept. of a radio station, a courier company, the delivery arm of a supermarket… talk about putting your brand on the map!

Authentic & Natural Tribe & Business Building – update 1

March 4, 2010 No comments yet

I’ve been crazy busy over the last few weeks, working on various client projects AND 2 of my own. Typically, when I’m busy with client work, my own projects don’t get much a look-in – an all too familiar issue for most self-employed people, too busy working IN our businesses, rather than ON them. Technically, I’m taking today and tomorrow off, but I really don’t want to let another day slip by where I start a new post for this blog and then fail to finish and publish it PLUS I am so excited by these 2 projects that I am itching to share all the news. So…

Monday saw the launch the Authentic Marketing Party, a new podcast I’m producing together with the incredibly talented Online Marketing & Business Success Coach Victoria Player. I’ve not known Victoria for very long – and I’ve never actually met her ‘in the flesh’ – but working with her (virtually, of course) has been AMAZING. She is brilliant fun, unbelievably dynamic and really, really knows her onions.

I still can’t quite believe that it was only 3 weeks ago (to the day) that we first broached the idea of doing an Authentic Marketing podcast together!!! In that time, we’ve created our authentic brand – we are “the “Loose Women” of authentic marketing“, a teaser campaign, a Facebook fan page, a Twitter profile – @marketingparty, a blogsite home (www.AuthenticMarketingParty.com) and the first episode which went out on Monday and is listed on iTunes! I messed up the sound a bit on the editing, so my voice is far too loud compared to Victoria’s, but I’ll get better and as I said to one of our (Warning: gratuitous ‘boast’ approaching) 100 Facebook fans (thank you!), imagine how intimidating I’d be if I were perfect! [chuckle]

Right, I’m out of time again… so rather than ‘Save Draft’, I’m going to publish this and post again as soon as I can about the other thing… in the meantime, please do have a listen (it’s only 15 mins long) and leave your feedback/suggestions etc. on the blog. See you soon…

2 Online Marketing Events (UK) for Inspired & Spiritual Entrepreneurs

February 5, 2010 No comments yet

UPDATE: Please note change of dates to Event #2 below.

#1: How to Build a Truly Effective Website with Niki Hignett (Talk)

Niki HignettLondon – 17th February 2010 – £15
Nick Williams’ Inspired Entrepreneurs’ Club business partner, Niki Hignett, will be taking to the stage to de-construct the design principles behind their website which have enabled them to grow their database of prospects from 6,000 to nearly 20,000 names and e-mail addresses. Niki says ““You will leave this evening with a solid understanding of how to structure your website for maximum effectiveness, and a strategy for improving your results over time.” They are anticipating a sell-out and at the time of writing their are only 9 places remaining, so you probably want to book now.  (Note: If you leave it too late, the only way to get this information will be at Niki’s signature course called Online Marketing Demystified, which costs £149 per ticket – only runs once per year – and always sells-out.)

#2: How to Use The Internet to Naturally Grow Your Business & Your Tribe (Workshop)

naturally grow your business & tribe - a practical workshopCardiff(ish) – 4th & 11th 18th & 25th March 2010 – £25
Join me for this 2 part ‘hands on’ workshop/course and discover how to simply and painlessly create an online presence, establish your ‘personal brand’, build your ‘tribe’ and ultimately increase your income using the internet and social media – all without feeling like you’re ’selling’ or being pushy. This ‘Plain English’ course has been designed especially for you if you KNOW there are huge opportunities to market your services online, but find it all a bit daunting/confusing/scary. You just want someone to explain how it all works and show you what to do. Spaces are limited to ensure plenty of un-rushed, individual attention, so book now for this event too. Full information here.

What will 2010 hold for you?

My dear friend Beryl shared yet another great video with me today that kind of sums up why I”ve felt compelled to create Authentic Brand Me… Here’s an extract of the words from the video:

The concept of free choice creates a constant and continuously changing track in front of you. In 2010, anything that you desire strongly will manifest in your life. There will be a number of people who will increasingly be aware of a longing within themselves for more. Souls will be stirring that have not been awake for many, many lifetimes. In the year 2010, it will become harder to hide truth. Transparency will become the watchword of the times. This coming year is a time to shed the perception of trouble and strife, and exchange that vision for one of transformation, growth, sharing and envisioning the new reality you are striving for.

I still haven’t finished building the site yet – so much other stuff going on, but these words are a timely kick up the bum to get on and do it. In the meantime, if either the words above or the video below resonate loudly and you even the slightest sense of a calling to act upon it, then please do let me know how I might be able to help you in your quest to listen to your truth.

Fire Ceremony & Growing Your Tribe Online

January 21, 2010 No comments yet

Native_American_Woman_SmudgingSo 21 days into 2010 and already so much good stuff going on… Last night, I joined the Inner Journey tribe for a Native American Indian New Year’s Fire Ceremony. Led by Jules Steinson, our animal spirit guides for the evening (mine was ‘the swan’) and The Great Spirit, we drummed and chanted and danced our way through an ancient ritual, culminating in our calling out to Great Spirit what was ‘to die’ and ‘be born’ in us. We sealed our intentions by setting fire to pieces of paper on which we’d written whatever words had come to us during the dance. The biggest gift of the evening for me was a chant which went, “Ground my body, water my blood, air my breath and fire my spirit.” Beautifully simple and totally uplifting. Ho!

The Inner Journey tribe is a spiritual group which meets every Wednesday night here in Penarth. I would love to post a link to their website here, but they don’t have one!! I know! BUT… they soon will, as Jules is one of the people who’ve been pestering me into running a workshop to show therapists, healers, earth angels and lightworkers how to simply and painlessly create an online presence, build your ‘tribe’ and ultimately increase your income using the internet and social media – all without feeling like you are selling or being pushy. I have finally set the date and booked the venue and am just finalising the agenda. Once that’s done, I’ll pop a page up here and invite you to book yourself on. There are only 10 spaces available so if you don’t want to miss out, subscribe to this blog feed to hear about it first. So the details so far are:

Workshop/Course Name: USING THE INTERNET TO NATURALLY GROW YOUR BUSINESS & TRIBE

Who should attend: Spiritual & Conscious Business Owners and Sole Traders,  Therapists, Healers, Earth Angels, Lightworkers, Sociopreneurs etc.  You KNOW there are huge, low- or no-cost opportunites to market your services online, but find it all a bit daunting/confusing/scary. You just need someone to explain how it all works and show you what to do – and you’d like them to speak Plain English and ideally, make it fun too! You may already have a website, but are left wondering how to get people to visit it and engage with you.

Course Format: 2 x 2 hour evening sessions. These are NOT dry, theory lessons which you attend in the hope of putting what you’ve learnt into practice in your own time. These are ‘hands-on’ practical sessions in front of a PC where you’ll be ‘learning by doing’, so by the time the course is over, you will have actually achieved started on your journey and will leave with a ‘road map’, confident that you know what you are doing to grow your business (and income!) naturally.

Times & Dates: Thursdays 4th & 11th February, both 5.30-7.30pm.

Location: Penarth Library, Stanwell Road, Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, CF64 2YT, UK

Twenty Ten – here we go…

January 7, 2010 4 comments

What a funny stoppy-starty time the last 6 months of 2009 proved to be. Conversations with colleagues, clients and friends confirm that I was in good company.  Christmas turned out better than anticipated and after stumbling and stuttering through a few challenging months, I find myself very much looking forward to a wonderful year ahead.

No going to say much more right now, except to share my intention statement for 2010:

“My theme for 2010 is engagement, buzz and authenticity. I have now emerged from my chrysalis, am reborn and intend to honour the divine feminine within me, harnessing my goddess power to create more energy, more freedom, more love and more bliss than I have ever experienced before.”

Which basically means I intend to participate and socialise more – albeit selectively, to not be scared to be ‘me’ and to better blend my old dynamism with my new found peace and flow.

The hound, the orangutan and the problem with palm oil which will stop me gaining weight!

I was just tipped off about a story too beautiful to keep to myself; if like me, you’re prone to shedding a (happy) tear at the drop of a hat, grab a tissue…

How cute is that?! But what’s really cool about this is that its a godsend of PR story – what a gift! Gotta love the Universe for lining up those circumstances. What a perfect way to publicise the serious issue of Palm Oil production and its role in the endangerment of the Orangutan.

What’s more, it has a personal gift for me too…
